This past summer, my girlfriend and i, have decided to go on a sailing trip. For our destination we choose the city of Rovinj, because we have heard that Rovinj is a perfect romantic destination for young couples.
Rovinj is located on the western coast of Istria, and it can be reached by a boat, a bus, a car or by a plane. Our plan was to come by a bus from Zagreb, and spend some time site seeing in the city before we go to the marina and begin our sailing adventure.
We arrived in the morning, so the first place we decided to visit was the beach. Rovinjs most famous and the most beautiful beach is called Baluota beach. Since Rovinj is a unique old town with rich cultural and historical heritage, after our relaxing morning on the beach, we went to see some of its historical monuments. The City Palace, Franciscan Monastery, the Romanesque Church of the Holy Trinity, the Church of St. Euphemia and the Golden Cape Forest Park were some of the places we visited.
Before we even realized, the night has fallen and the romantic atmosphere was upon us. We went to dinner in one of many restaurants in Rovinj that have their own Istrian traditional specialties. After a great homemade diner and a bottle of wine, we took a walk to the ACI marina where we spend the night on our boat under the stars.
The morning came and it was time for us to say goodbye to the city and start exploring its coastal area. Rovinjs coastal area is a unique natural environment with 14 islands, 6 cliffs and islets, in other words, Rovinjs coastal area has many exciting and breathtaking places that were just waiting for us to explore.
First we sailed to the only ornithological reserve in Istria, the Palud Cove. From there we went to the Two Little Sisters Islands, a place from where you have the most beautiful view of the city of Rovinj. The last stop on our coastal route was the Lim Bay that is a protected landscape with slopes that are covered in different forms of evergreen shrubs.
Our yachting holiday in the Rovinjs coastal area has come to an end, and all that was left was to return to the marina and take a bus trip home.
Now, after some time has passed and our experiences have settled, we can safely say that our vacation in Rovinj was something we will never forget, and will forever be one of the best summers of our lives.
